A Piece of the Pi [2010]
From PERSPECTIVE [March 18 - April 4, 2010]

Artists' Statement:

A Piece of the Pi is a filter for deconstructing perception. It is constructed of paper tubes varying in diameter, stacked horizontally and at varying depths in order to interrupt and distort the peripheral view of the observer.

Placing the tubes at different depths not only pixelates, but creates a broken perspective with overlapping images as both eyes attempt to merge the image into one. The viewer is encouraged to view the work from both sides depending on its play with light, and interact with the piece by either moving, jumping or crouching in order to see the image beyond or view it as a topographical wallscape.
