Blog: January Gallery Goings On

Hi there,

I sincerely hope 2010 is treating you well thus far.

As most of you know, my main project these days is programming the lineup for Snowball Gallery & Workshop over here at Queen & Roncesvalles.  Some good friends have voluntarily[!] joined me as a Board of Directors in what is now a collective pursuit to make the most of this time and place.  For that, I'd like to thank Daniela Kortan, Katie Fotheringham, Steve Lush and Deborah Wang.  For those who were able to attend the opening in early December or have been down to the space since - thanks very much for making the effort and hope to see you around these parts again.  For those I missed or didn't know yet or who haven't yet had the chance - there is more to come this month of Picture + Place:

Photography Art Show -
New work by: Alison Snowball, Andrei Kalamkarov & Christian Toth
Reception: Thursday January 14, 6-9pm
Running Time: Jan 14-31, 2010

Workshop - Back to Basics:  Getting to Know Your Camera + urban photo hunt + results slideshow
Led by: Roger Cullman, Freelance Photojournalist
Running Time: Saturday January 23, 1-4pm
PWYC - Email to register or for more details.

Screening - "Blow Up" (1966)
Running Time: Sunday January 31, 4-6pm

So far, that's what's happening at 1690 Queen St. W in January.   February is planned as an ode to our Urban Canvas - a street art installation by SECTR, graffiti workshops etc.

Also, the call for submissions remains on - please feel free to pass this on to those who may be interested. Generally, we are looking for works across all art disciplines as we colour in the lineup going forward.  We look forward too to working with you on realizing your own ideas for events, workshops etc. Specifically, for March, we are looking for Drawing, Sculpture, Architecture and Graphic Design works that draw on or inform the idea of Perspective.

All the best,
